Project is a collaboration between UCSF & California Public Health Department (CDPH) to promote optimal antimicrobial prescribing in children across California

Who is initiating this project?

This is a collaborative project between California Public Health Department (CDPH) and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital – Antimicrobial Stewardship program (ASP) to promote guidance concordant diagnostics and antimicrobial prescribing for children seen in non-pediatric emergency departments (EDs). Through a series of workshops and educational webinars the project will focus increase awareness and promote best practices for antibiotic use in children.

Workshops will be help antimicrobial stewardship programs implement pediatric focused strategies for their programs. See webinar page for dates and link for registration

As part of the workshops participants will have an opportunity to have

  • 1-1 case discussions with Pediatric ASP Expert

  • Learn how to extend their ASP practices to pediatric patients

  • Create evidence based actions to improve practices and reduce provider variability  

Educational webinars will be focused on common pediatric conditions often leading to antimicrobial overuse. Our first educational webinar will be on January 11th. Educational webinars are intended for general practitioners seeing children in acute care setting. see webinar page for dates and link for registration

Institutions and stewardship leads interested in developing core pediatric antimicrobial stewardship program will also have opportunities for ongoing 1-1 consultation. Please email prachi.singh@ucsf.edu to set up a 30-minute time.
